Hey Buddy,
Just checking in as it has been awhile. On a practical note I believe that there is an optimal commute time for everyone. For me when a commute is too long I gravitate toward being homicidal. When it is too short I find I'm not centered. Putting on NPR (or a good music station if NPR is being too NPR) and driving 30 or so minutes always works for me. As a stay at home dad though who only occasionally gets stuck in BOSTON rush hour, I gotta say I don't miss it! Oh thats right you are the lucky bastard that lives in the Boulder/Denver area!! Good luck in the new job my friend!

//45-hour-plus drive//
Yowza! Quite the commute to make twice a day!

Hey, in the end, whatever decision you make will be the right one. And if you make the move to Denver, think of it this way: you can take a 45-minute express train to *heaven*, bike around, and kiss the Rockies. That little bit of distance might make it that much more precious.

Rob, so glad you found a job that will be more fulfilling for you, even if it does mean you have to reconsider other aspects of your life. Hard choices. No matter what you decide, loving where you live is the most important thing, I think.

Congrats on the new job. It sounds like it is the right move for you. Hope it is as exciting as you want it to be.

I worked in Denver for a time, and the commute was fine in the winter, hard in the summer--I hope relocating works out (and a yard! what an idea!).

I'm glad you chose to write and get some things off of your chest so-to-speak. For me, such things make me feel better... just writing them down.

Rob, Good luck with your new job and new life. I had no idea your job had become that bad. Looking forward to reading about what lies ahead for you, Brenda and Hooper.
