I know it's some dude's last name, Dawnie, but using it as a term for a skating move is arguably as ridiculous as McTwist. I loves me some winter Olympics too, but skeleton is whack.

Dude....Salchow is someone's last name. Ulrich Salchow invented the jump back in the early 1900's. Only men were permitted to do it at first because they thought it was too severe a move for the ladies. What idots. Fakie McTwist...now those are just wonderfully goofy words. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the snowboarders. All modern events and sports are welcome in my winter olympics. I'm totally stoked whenever they add a new one, and skeleton was no exception for me. I applaud the IOC for adding it. The winter games have always been harrowing by nature. Think of the big hill ski jumpers, the screaming men's down hill...insane and amazing! One in ten summer olympians sustain serious injury, compared to four in ten for winter olympians. The skeleton sliders are very much in control. They drive the sled with pin point shifts in their body weight while traveling at crazy speeds and holding on aganist multiple G's. It requires intense and calculated brute strength through conditioning. Knoxville and the like wouldn't stand a chance. "Citius, Altius, Fortius", faster, higher, STRONGER. That's the Olympic motto. Slide you crazy mother fuckers! Slide for the gold! Go team U.S.A.!

The only reason why luge isn't a laughable freakshow is that the participants claim they have some sort of control over the sled, which I'm not sure I believe. Skeleton doesn't even have that bit of plausibile contact with the concept of sport.
